Our Approach

For our hospitals and surgery center clients, we provide a comprehensive bottoms-up evaluation. This includes an analysis of your caseload and breakdown, payer mix, service and personnel needs. We look at your market share within your community and what factors are currently affecting it.

We then "flesh out" the data by speaking with key hospital (or office/surgery center) personnel, surgeons, administrators, nursing directors, staff, and identify others playing key roles who can add depth and insight to our analysis.

The Analysis

We identify the Anesthesia Department's strengths and weaknesses with an eye toward how manipulation of each can improve performance. This may include enhancing capture of opportunities and eliminating threats. In specific cases as needed we are able to:

• Evaluate the strengths and areas for improvement of anesthesia personnel (MDs and CRNAs) with respect to clinical skills, interpersonal relations, and leadership abilities
• Evaluate quality assurance issues of all anesthesia practitioners
• Evaluate issues currently causing or having the potential to cause conflict
• Evaluate issues related to case booking, block-time, and after-hours case load
• Evaluate the need for additional anesthesia support for surgical procedures with special needs
• Review, develop, or augment your existing Quality Improvement Program
• Evaluate billing, collection, compliance, recruiting, staffing, and all other business and hospital-required functions of an anesthesia service

Our Services

Our teams provide comprehensive anesthesia coverage for all types of procedures and services, ranging from anesthetic care to pain care and OR management to site development. Part of our success begins with the recognition that all situations are unique. Sometimes all that is needed for improvement is competent, reliable anesthesia personnel. At other times, consultative support for site development and/or OR expansion is needed. In some cases, ancillary services such as pain management, or risk management and compliance program development make the difference.

After our evaluation, we will work with you as needed, and appropriate, to accomplish the following solutions:

• Augment or implement a quality assurance program which complies with all regulatory organizations
• Revise the scheduling and block-time methodologies to enhance the work flow through the operating suite
• Set up specific criteria, in concert with your surgeons, to identify true surgical emergencies and to minimize after-hours case load
• Should there be the need for additional anesthesia support, we can provide training to augment the skills of the anesthesia providers, or recruit additional staff to fill your needs
